BEN: I can’t really tell if the social politics aged well or poorly. The idea of it aged well, but maybe not the execution.
BEN: Unfortunately, the cop’s “shoot first” attitude is still relevant.
DUY: Then again, shirtless Spidey is straight out of an MCU movie.
WHAT'S AGED THE WORST?
DUY: "Cook an egg... cook your goose! Turn the demonstrators loose!" is terrible, Stan, terrible!
BEN: That’s not even so bad it’s good, it’s just bad.
DUY: "No one can match the Kingpin's strength!" in a universe with the Hulk in it.
BEN: Maybe he meant exactly. An exact match.
DUY: "You puny parody of a present-day superhero!" from the mouth of the Kingpin. Come on, Stan.
NITPICKS
BEN: I was going to say this wasn’t a good look for Gwen, but she is the daughter of a cop.
DUY: She's in a tough spot.
BEN: She probably agrees with the demonstrators, but she knows the law way better than any of them do.
FAVORITE PANEL
FAVORITE PANEL
BEN: Both Palmer and I liked this panel. It's also his favorite part, but he doesn't really think Spider-Man is going to be a menace.
DUY: Spidey with a headscissors!
WHO WON THE COMIC?
DUY: Gwen Stacy, who told off everyone.
BEN: Thank you, Stan Lee and Steve Ditko—
DUY: —for telling us we aren't the only ones.

I just discovered this site and as an aspiring artist who has no one to talk to about this stuff i love it ! :D
Keep doing everything you're doing , i love all the lists and retrospectives !
Gwen Stacy had a very right-wing edge in the early days. She's after all the only one Peter dated to come from a higher social class than him. This comes to bear in ASM#91-92, where she backs and supports a white supremacist named Sam Bullitt (https://www.cbr.com/spider-man-gwen-stacy-brush-with-white-supremacy/), and doesn't get called out or apologizes for a guy who openly supports a campaign to trample on civil liberties and more or less hunt Spider-Man.
It's stuff like this that explains why Gwen was so unpopular, as Roger Stern pointed out that she kept making bizarre and absurd actions that weren't called out or acknowledged.
