Spider-Rama: Amazing Spider-Man #29

Back Issue Ben, Duy, Spider-Man, Spider-Rama, Stan Lee, Steve Ditko
Welcome to Spider-Rama! Each Wednesday, Ben and Duy will look at a Spider-Man issue from the very beginning, in chronological order, and answer questions for various categories, inspired in large part by one of our favorite podcasts, The Rewatchables by The Ringer. Our goal is to make it to Amazing Spider-Man #200. Will we make it? Grab your Amazing Spider-Man Omnibus or crank up your tablet to Marvel Unlimited, and then tune in every Wednesday to find out!

Except, in honor of the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home this weekend, we will be going daily for Spider-Rama for the next two weeks! So tune in every day at the same time for your daily dose of Spider-Man retrospectives!

by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko

BEN: Peter finally buys some new clothes.

DUY: Jeez, it's about time.

BEN: Except he’s going with the Marty McFly vest.

BEN: Ned Leeds using the Scorpion’s attack to impress Betty with his bravery was funny.

DUY:  I sound like a broken record at this point, but Jameson being a coward and then all of a sudden being brave when the cops get there is hilarious.

BEN: One of the better covers to date, too.

DUY:  The Scorpion actually a good villain? I feel like he just shows up when the creative team is out of ideas.

BEN: His only motivation seems to be that he’s an asshole.

BEN:  They returned the Scorpion’s costume to him?

DUY: What is up with the New York police department of 1965 just always returning these dangerous weapons?

BEN: They are concerned for the emotional well-being of these dangerous weirdos.

DUY: Not a panel, but a whole page. The page where Peter ties up Scorpion, before they dive into the water.

BEN: I love underwater stuff. Unless it’s Aquaman.

BEN: Ned Leeds in control.

DUY: Yeah, it's gotta be Ned for this issue. Peter risks his life and Ned looks like the hero.

BEN: That's it for Spider-Rama this week.

DUY: Thank you, Stan Lee and Steve Ditko—

BEN: —for telling us we aren't the only ones.
