Easter Eggs in Comics: The Human Torch in Trese!

Welcome to another installment of Easter Eggs in Comics! Click here for the archive!

In the fourth issue of Budjette Tan and KaJo Baldisimo's Trese, entitled "The Tragic Case of Dr. Burgos," the culprit of the piece is a burning man.

His name? Karl Burgos.

Sound familiar?

The spelling is different, but Carl Burgos is the creator of the original flaming human, the original Human Torch, who debuted all the way back in Marvel Comics #1 in 1939!

Thanks, Booksteve!

In 1961, Stan Lee and Jack Kirby would create a second version of the Human Torch. This one was Johnny Storm, who was a member of the Fantastic Four. His sister was the Invisible Girl, Susan Storm.

Well, in this particular Trese story, guess what the name of Karl Burgos' first victim was?

That's right, Susan Bagyo.

I'm sure you can all guess what bagyo means now!

Thanks to Aris B. Panganiban at Pinoy Superheroes Universe for the tips!
