BEN: The debut of the Spider-Mobile.
DUY: Yes! Screw you, Batmobile!
BEN: Is this the first time we’ve seen a Christmas themed issue coordinated with the real-life season?
DUY: For Spider-Man, yes.
WHAT'S AGED THE BEST?
BEN: Peter Parker being a terrible driver. Three villains running around causing problems was new
DUY: Aside from the awesomeness of the Spider-Mobile and the fact that this issue in general is pretty good, I just want to point out that Andru has been different from his predecessors in terms of perspectives. You don't really get this kind of thing from Ditko or Romita, and it works. That's the second thing I've seen that distinguishes Andru from his predecessors, the first one being MJ's staple ensemble.
BEN: You know I love those high-up angles.
DUY: He's been extra hostile, but I think it'd be easy to blame it on the drugs.
BEN: I’m just pointing out how inconsiderate his statement is. Of course he’s been weird, HIS FATHER DIED.
NITPICKS
BEN: Back to the Christmas thing, as a fan we just have to ignore the 40 different Christmas stories Spider-Man has had in the years since.
DUY: And that's just it with seasons passing in comics. You'll go through 16 seasons and it'll be a year in their lives.
BEN: How is Doctor Octopus out of jail?
DUY: I've said it before, but just because Hammerhead has a metal plate in his head doesn't mean he needs to just use his head to hit everything.
BEN: His neck isn't metal. Or maybe it is. I don't know.
WHO WON THE COMIC?
DUY: Corona Motors, for the majesty that is the Spider-Mobile.
BEN: I’m saying Ross Andru, because in many ways he was my baseline for the character as a kid. I didn’t have access to that many back issues of Romita or Ditko, but I was collecting these.
