Happy Hanukkah!

On today, the first day of Hanukkah, please take the time to remember the comics creators that the Jewish community has blessed us with. To name just a few:

Will Eisner (father of the graphic novel)

Stan Lee and Jack Kirby (co-creators of the Marvel Universe)

Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster (creators of Superman)

Neil Gaiman (SANDMAN)

Brian K. Vaughan (THE ESCAPISTS)

and Harvey Kurtzman (MAD).

Yes, that includes the guys for whom the two most prestigious comics awards - the Eisners and the Harveys - were named.

Happy Hanukkah, folks!

And one of the most influential folks in alternative and biographical comix, the dearly departed Harvey Pekar!

I can't say I was ever a Pekar fan, but boy, di I respect the man.
